Google have just launched  ‘Site Performance’, an new test feature in Webmaster Tools that allows you to test the speed and peformance of your website. This again underlines Googles intent to provide users with quicker and faster response times to the rlevant information they are searching for online. It also adds weight to Googles statement that soon the speed and response time of your website will influence your overall search engine positions. No-one knows by how much but if Google are publising the fact you should listen.

Google says:

‘This is a small step in our larger effort to make the web faster. Studies have repeatedly shown that speeding up your site leads to increased user retention and activity, higher revenue and lower costs. ‘

Areatrade are rolling out our first ‘Super Speed SEO Server’ next week and will be moving over some test websites for speed testing and analysis. We then hope to deploy our current SEO clients before Google Caffeine is released in the new year.

There is no suprise that Michael Jacksons death on June 25th produced huge online search volumes with fans searching for information surrounding his death, making MJ top another chart for 2009 – the most searched topic. For Yahoo it was the first time since Britney Spears has been dethrowned as the most popular search. There has been a constant search trend with celebrity stars and they seem to feature highly in the search charts, with more and more 6 week wonders being churned out by TV shows such as X Factor this will surely continue in 2010. It is interesting to see Lady Gaga making a strong appearance globaly on Google and mentions for both FAcebook (no.2) and Twitter (No.4) highlighting how important and popular the social networking giants are becoming.
