Study Finds that 50% of Android Apps Secretly Share User Data
A study of 30 of the 358 most popular apps for Andriod devices found that 50% of them sent location information to advertisers without users’ knowledge.
Some apps dispatched location information as often as every 30 seconds, even when an application was not running. One sent this information to advertisers before it was even run for the first time. Seven apps shared unique identifier numbers, and others dispatched phone and SIM card numbers.
Facebook, is rolling out some marked improvements to its Photos product which include hi-res photos, photo-download links, bulk tagging options and a nice lightbox interface for viewing images throughout the site. The lightbox is a similar features that Flickr rolled out recently which have, in the past, prevented
Facebook from competing in the photo-sharing realm. Starting today and rolling out across the board soon, you will be able to upload and download hi-res photos up to 2048 pixels wide or high — that’s large enough for print-quality images. (Much bigger than the current 720 pixels.) Each photo will come with a link to download the JPEG file, as well.
The site’s new bulk tagging options will allow the uploading individual to temporarily group images and tag friends by simply clicking on thumbnails.
Another interesting change is Facebooks lightbox which puts the main focus on the images by creating a darker background box and simple navigation as the picture shows below. This will be activated by clicking on any image through out the Facebook page (Album, News Feed or on friend’s Wall).
As you can see that ads are also appearing in the lightbox which although not great we do understand that hosting hi-res photos More >
Due to complaints about the number of different OS Versions and available devices for the Android diaspora Google have introduced the
Google Phone Gallery, a carousel of devices that displays images, phone features, manufacturer and carrier information and more. This allows you to filter to the exact preference your looking for making the whole process simple.
All these devices ship with the standard set of on-deck Android apps you know and love, including the Android Market, Google Search, Maps, Gmail and YouTube.

On the 5oth anniversary of the classic prehistoric kids program ‘The Flintstones’ Google Doodler, Mike Dutton gladly salutes Fred, Wilma and the rest of the yabba dabba doo time family with a Google themed home page sketch. The Flintstones may have lived in the prehistoric town of Bedrock, but their technology was on par with much of what we use today. Everyone drove human-powered vehicles (zero emissions!), composted scraps in a dinosaur under the kitchen sink, and even wore solar powered watches—that is, if you count sundials.

Over the last 2 years we have worked very hard at improving our business, the processes, the systems, the end product and most importantly the client experience. At the start of all the change was the EMYTH Revisited book – a must for any company large or small. We created a mission statement as a team and have checked everything that has been put in place to make sure it stands up to our team values / goals, which is ”
To create happy and successful clients”. If our clients are happy – we are happy – if they are successful we are successful. All we have done is give our clients as much as we can. This has resulted in better products, better services and better client relationships.
My drive as the MD is an overwhelming passion to create a company that people like (call me needy – lol) and a product that works for their business. We constantly ask for feedback from both our clients and staff and always tweak the way our business operates for the benefit of our customers. I am working hard to create what I feel is the best company in the world… and I

Google has released what it is calling the
Transparency Report, which shows the number of government inquiries for information about users and requests for Google to take down or censor content, as well as interactive traffic graphs that show information about traffic to Google around the world.”Like all companies, Google’s services occasionally experience traffic disruptions,” writes David Drummond, SVP, Corporate Development and Chief Legal Officer. “Our new traffic tracking tool helps us and others track whether these interruptions are related to mechanical outages or are government-induced. Each traffic graph shows historic traffic patterns for a given country and service. Graphs are updated as data is collected, then normalized and scaled in units of 0 to 100.”
“This new tool—which is global and includes China—will replace the Mainland China service availability chart, which showed product access for China alone,” adds Drummond. “By showing outages, the traffic graphs visualize disruptions in the free flow of information, whether it’s a government blocking information or a cable being cut. For example, the graphs show that YouTube has been inaccessible in Iran since June 12, 2009, following the disputed presidential election.”
The United States, by far, has made the largest number of data requests, with Brazil coming More >
