This month the total number of traffic that we have delivered to our clients websites via Google paid advertising rose to 1.5 million.Paid advertising is still the number 1 way to drive specific keyword related traffic to your website, what people do not realise is that Google makes it very easy for individuals to set up accounts on their own, start a campaign and spend huge amounts.
The most important aspect of PPC advertising is the analytic side of things. We take over campaigns for new clients all the time and there are hardly ever any GOAL SETTING implemented. This is key to understanding the cost of each conversion on your website, without this information you have no idea what is working and what is not. Most accounts are made up of just 1 campaign with all keywords crammed into it which also is a big no no and has a very negative effect on the quality scores. Google tries to calculate which advert works the best – if you have no specific adverts Google has no chance of helping you.
If your not currently tracking your PPC campaign let us know as we can help.
In the battle for your browsing activities, Microsoft’s Internet Explorer has remained a dominant force for years despite competition from Safari and Firefox. Data from Net Applications demonstrates that while there have been no massive changes in marketshare from month to month, Chrome continues to eat away at IE’s share. In the time between August and September, browser market share stayed pretty much the same.
Chrome gained almost half a percent (.46%),
Firefox s aw just a .03% bump and
Safari just an additional 0.11%.
All very unremarkable, except that Internet Explorer lost .75% share in the same interim, even amidst the release of its upgrade IE9.
Still, less than a percent movement in either direction is not especially worthy of note, until you consider change over time.
Of course, browser market share is a difficult thing to measure, as there’s no guarantee that these stats are 100% accurate. But the measurement in change over time does seem to suggest that Chrome is carving out a nice foothold in the browser war. 7.98% does not a winner make, so it will be interesting to see how things play out over the course of the next few months.
What is your favourite browser and why?….

Thousands of Facebook users are being attacked by a nasty Facebook worm that forces you to “like” a Facebook page, which then automatically spreads it through a user’s wall.
The scammers have figured out a way to exploit the “Like” button via Javascript and are using it to force users to like the page, thus spreading it inadvertently through postings on
Facebook walls.
The result is thousands of wall posts for a page entitled “Shocking! This girl killed herself after her dad posted this photo.” Clicking the link enclosed spreads the worm further. Unfortunately, this is not the first time we’ve heard of such an exploit.
Do not click any of these links or go to this Facebook page. It will force you to like the page and spread the worm further. As far as we can tell though, the exploit doesn’t compromise your account or steal your password. We’ve put an e-mail out to the Facebook team for more information.

From a marketing standpoint, Facebook’s stunning audience growth means the site has become a channel unto itself.Five-hundred million’s an awful big number. It’s the world’s population divided by 14. It’s the approximate number of people living in European Union countries. It’s the combined population of Latin America, minus Columbia and Argentina. It’s also the number of global active users on Facebook as of this morning, the company made known in a video and blog post today. The milestone was widely anticipated this week, but is no less stunning for having been predicted. The company now ranks fourth among global Web properties in terms of unique users, according to comScore. It still lags behind Google (932 million), which will likely be the first Web company to reach 1 billion monthly users, as well as Microsoft (789 million) and Yahoo (622 million). However Facebook’s estimated annual growth rate – 73 percent – eclipses all of those sites. (Since comScore captures visitors who are not registered, its estimates skew higher than Facebook’s internal numbers.)
