The best way to increase a well optimised websites page ranking is to build links to your website from other websites. This is the most important thing you can do at this stage of your website – if you do not have time please let us know and we will happily undertake a campaign for you. Lin building is boring and a hard slog but worth it’s weight in gold – it can take a well optimised site from page 5 to page 1. We charge from just £5 per submission. You can ask your suppliers to add a link to your website from their website, but they will normally ask for a link from your website to theirs. This is link replication and does not bode well in SEO terms. The best link is a one way link – from another site to yours with no link being returned. A way to get around this is to have 2 websites, your main website and a mini website. Your supplier adds a link to your main website and you return the link from your 2nd website to theirs. This ensures there is a good one way link from their website to yours, this also benefits your suppliers website making it easy to ask for links.

2. Set up a Mini Website: We suggest you set up a mini website. We create a new 5 page website based on your current website which can be used for a number of things. This websites domain name will be one of your main keywords and therefore should get you picked up and ranked well by Google which can generate you more traffic. One of these pages would be a partners (links) page which you can use to create one way links back to the websites that link to your main website. The mini websites are hosted on a separate server so the IP’s do not match – very important in SEO terms.

Online Directory Submission
Directory submission is a must when you are link building, this means creating a link from another website on the internet which links back to your website. It is an assured way to get solid one way links back to your desired domain or sub domain.
The biggest directory project at the moment is the open directory project. Its also called ODP or the "Google directory." It is supposed to be hard to get approval but if you follow the basic steps you should never have a problem with the ODP (or any other directory for that matter). Other big directories include the Yahoo Directory; directories have human editors and frown severely on multiple submissions, so just add your site once.
Directories want to offer a service. If they are good at listing, they get traffic; if they are bad, they don't. They need relevant listings. This is why some people find it hard to get listed; a lot of sites try to get listed on unpaid directories without being relevant. This will definitely make directory submission hard. So make sure that the content on your website is "relevant" to the section you are listing under. Check and double check, and if you can't find a category that explicitly describes you, go for the nearest descriptive terms. Once your site actually exists and the content is relevant to the category you picked, all that is left is for you to use the right forms for describing your site and the right titles and voila! YOU ARE IN.
How to write descriptions
It is best to keep descriptions brief, cold and detached -- no superlatives, no "best builders website in the world!" Try instead: "offers all types of building work, from large projects to small home repairs." This is a pretty good description. You are not selling on the directory (well at least not in SEO). The point is that you are generating one way back links. And the editor looking through your application may not feel inclined to list you if you stuff spammy keywords into your description. The absolute best thing to do is read the guidelines of the very strictest directories out there and model ALL your work after that.
Note that it is a good idea to have several different descriptions and titles for the various directories to which you submit. If you do not want to overwork your imagination you could write five different descriptions and use these over and over. This is the basic structure to use.

Email: Always use a valid email address as some listings require authorisation

Remember you need to be patient, do not try adding yourself over and over again, the editors of most directories are human and will get annoyed if you keep bombarding them – also it will cost you unnecessarily money. You need to be careful of Paid directories as there are lots around and you can get carried away, just stick to directories with a page rank of 4 or more.

FREE DIRECTORIES
As part of the service we submit you to 10 of the best free directories so do not be surprised if you see a few links that you do not recognise. Find as many directories as you can that will allow a free listing even if they have a small page rank.
RECIPROCAL LINKING DIRECTORIES
Some people say that these are not worth adding as Google does not recognise them anymore. This is true to an extent, Google pays much less notice to these kind of links although if you swop a link with a website that is of relevant content to your own website and has a page rank of more then 6 then it will add some weight to your page rank.
HOW TO FIND RELEVANT INBOUND LINKS
Link building is the most important aspect of increasing your page rank. Search Google for your main keywords and see who is number 1. Check the links to their website. Visit these sites and make sure you get the same links. If the website is a directory – then join it. If the website is another business, contact them and ask for a link. If you have set up a mini site you can offer them a inbound link in return which will benefit them also.
FORUMS
Search for relevant forums – if you’re a plumber search for plumbing forums or building forums. Join these and you will notice that most will let you update your profile with your website address once you have logged back in. When you make a post your website should appear therefore creating a relevant website inbound link to your website. Make sure you post something of interest to other users and you could find you get asked questions which will allow to reply – hey guess what – another link!!!
ARTICLE WEBSITES
There are lost of article websites out there that will let you add your articles to. These are a great way to include links to your website. These are called deep links which are viewed highly by Google. This means you include links to your website inside flowing text in the article page.

WEBSITES IN WEBSITES
Some websites will allow you to create your own pages within it’s website. These are well worth doing as you can add articles and pictures which can all link back to your website.
REMEMBER – DO NOT GET CARRIED AWAY
Never join any link building schemes online and only try to achieve 10 – 25 submissions per month. DO NOT buy bulk links – there are some companies that offer 200 links in one go. Sounds like a easy route but Google can ban you for good if they find out – and believe me they are nit stupid!!!!!!
TOP TIP
One thing that you may have noticed recently is that when searching for particular things, sites like Wikipedia will often be higher in positions than directory sites. You can make use of the popularity of the wiki by adding an article describing your site or service and providing a link back to your site. Like submitting directories, this will provide spiders and crawlers with another route to your site, reinforcing link popularity. Because of the popularity of Wikipedia, you may also get increased traffic to your site. Again, try not to make it look like an advert; an honest description will go much further in the eyes of anyone viewing the wiki article.
